Muting and Unmuting
Schedules can be muted and unmuted manually or automatically. Muting a schedule prevents pings from being sent for the participant, while unmuting a schedule resumes pings for the participant.
On this page, you will find information about:
Mute/Unmute vs Activation/Deactivation
Muting a schedule stops all pings from being sent but keeps the schedule active for the participant. Unmuting a schedule resumes pings for the participant. On the other hand, deactivating a schedule entirely removes the schedule from the participant, and reactivating it later will start the schedule from the beginning.
How to Mute and Unmute Schedules
Manual Mute and Unmute
To manually mute and unmute a participant's schedule:
- Navigate to the Participant Schedules tab in the participant's page
- Toggle on (mute) or off (unmute) the Muted toggle at the top right of the applied schedule block
Dynamic Mute and Unmute
Schedules can be dynamically muted and unmuted based on survey responses or when a participant clicks on a ping. To dynamically mute and unmute schedules from within your Qualtrics survey, visit our Schedule Mute API help page.
To dynamically mute and unmute schedules from within the Inclivio web app:
- Navigate to the Settings tab in the schedule page
- Find the Dynamic Schedule Triggers section
- Toggle on the Mute and/or Unmute toggle
- Select the schedule(s) you wish to mute or unmute when a participant clicks on a ping from this schedule
- Optionally, select an expiration timeline for the mute or unmute to reset automatically. You can reset the action after a certain period of time (in minutes) or at a specific time of day. If you include both, whichever is earliest will take precedence. If the participant clicks on a ping after the specified time of day, the action will reset at that time the following day.
