A trial license is a free way to try Inclivio with a real study before you commit to a paid license. You can start one yourself in a few seconds, and you don't need a credit card, an invoice, or a call with our team. On this page, you will find information about:

What a trial is good for

A trial gives you the full Inclivio experience on a study of your own, so you can see how it fits your research before you plan a budget around it. Researchers use trials to:

  • Run a pilot. Send real pings to a small group of participants and check that your schedule, questions, and timing work the way you intended.
  • Test your protocol end to end. Enroll yourself or your team as participants, receive pings on your own phones, and walk through exactly what your participants will see.
  • Compare delivery channels. Try app push notifications, email, SMS, and WhatsApp side by side to find out which ones your participants respond to best.

What a trial includes

Apart from its shorter term and smaller SMS and WhatsApp allowance, a trial is a full license:

  • 14 days of use, starting when you start the trial
  • One study at a time
  • Unlimited iOS and Android push notification pings
  • Unlimited email and DashLink pings
  • 75 SMS and WhatsApp pings. SMS and WhatsApp share this allowance: each ping sent over either one counts once.
  • Messages with your participants
  • No charge, and no credit card or invoice required

How to start a trial

  1. Navigate to Billing > Licenses and click Start free trial. On a narrow screen, the button shows only a rocket icon.

  2. Review the trial terms. You can give the trial a name if you like. The name is only how it is listed in your billing. If you leave it blank, the trial is named after the day you started it.

  3. Click Start trial. The trial appears in your licenses right away.

  4. Open the study you want to run, go to its Billing tab, and under Primary Funding, choose your trial. Click Save Changes, and your study can now send pings.

The 14 days begin as soon as you start the trial, not when you attach it to a study. To get the most out of it, have your study set up and ready to go before you click Start free trial.

Trial rules

  • One trial per account. Each account can start one free trial, ever. A trial that Inclivio issued to your account earlier also counts as your one trial. If you need another trial, contact us to request one.
  • A trial is yours alone. A trial cannot be shared with other researchers. Each researcher on your team can start a trial of their own.
  • One study at a time. A trial funds one study at a time. It can't fund a second study while the first is attached to it.
  • 14 days from the start. The term starts when you click Start trial and ends 14 days later.
  • A fixed SMS and WhatsApp allowance. When all 75 SMS and WhatsApp pings are used, pings still go out by app push notification and email, but SMS and WhatsApp are held back. We email you when this happens.
  • Pings stop when the trial ends. After the 14 days, the trial no longer funds pings, and pings for the study attached to it stop until you fund the study with another license. We email you when this happens.

After your trial

When you're ready to keep going, get a license that fits your study. Navigate to Billing > Licenses and click Add a license, and we will tailor one to your research.

If you need more time to evaluate, just ask. Click Start free trial again and choose Ask about more trial time, or contact us. We can extend your trial or arrange another one.
