Anonymous Projects

warning Warning: You cannot de-anonymize a project. Once it is anonymous, it will always be anonymous.

Anonymous projects prevent participant identifiable information (name, phone, and email address) from being sent from Inclivio's servers to your browser. All information that is sent from Inclivio's servers to your browser is encrypted in transit, so only you have access to this information. However, it can be advantageous from a participant privacy perspective to prevent researchers from having access to participant identifiable information. On this page, you will find information about:

How to Create an Anonymous Project
  1. Projects > Create New Project
  2. Toggle on 'Make this an anonymous project'
How to Track Anonymous Participants
Inclivio assigns a unique participant ID (participantid) to each participant and send this as a survey parameter to your survey. It is common, however, to have your own participant identifiers. You can use your own custom identifiers to identify participants in an anonymous project. To do so:
  1. Invite participants by email: Projects > Participants > '+' (in the Invited Participants table)
  2. After inputting the participant's email address, input the Custom ID you would like linked to this participant. You can change this Custom ID at any time after the participant is enrolled.

When the participant enrolls in yours study, their Custom ID will identify them in your participant table.

To change a participant's Custom ID, click on Participants > {Participant} > Settings, update their Custom ID to the desired value, and click Save
